This project was created as part of the course Cooperative Aesthetics at the Time-Based and Interactive Media program of the University of Arts Linz.
The starting point of the installation is the movie Les jeux sont faits (1948) based on a book of Jean-Paul Sartre.
On the wall of the Deep Space, a multi-layered collage of images unfolds, along with projections of the two central characters – Eve and Pierre. Symbols and graphic surfaces are projected onto the floor, serving as interactive triggers.
Visitors can activate Eve and Pierre and move through the projected image alongside them. When stepping onto one of the floor symbols, a memory is triggered – a short cinematic sequence from the original movie. In this way, the story unfolds in a fragmented, non-linear manner, creating a walkable field of memory within the space.
At certain points in the installation, the cooperation of two players is required to reveal a shared memory – a moment of collective experience.
The more people move across the projection surface, the denser and more complex the fabric of memories becomes – a collective memory emerges within the space.
